

Amy Whitaker is an associate professor of Visual Arts Administration and founder of the Art, Equity, and Democracy Lab. She works as the intersection of art, economics, and politics and has received the Penrose Award for equitable economic proposals for artists and the Krouse and Hutchins Prizes for humane work in political science. A recipient of the Sarah Verdone Writing Award, she is the author of four books. A recognized expert on blockchain, creative process, and education, Amy's work has been featured in The New York Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek, The Guardian, Harpers, The Atlantic, the Financial Times, and many others. She holds a PhD in political economy, an MFA in painting, an MBA in nonprofit management, and a BA from Williams College in studio art and political science. She has served as an early advisor to The OpEd Project, Bitmark, Pollinator, and Zero Art Fair, and collaborated with many other social practice artists on projects.
